Restorations

Federica Matta’s monumental installation, La Maison des enfants, commissioned by Paul Haim and installed in the garden in 1994, has been restored by a group of 8 students from the Sculpture Conservation and Restoration Department at the School of Fine Arts of Tours (ESBA TALM – site de Tours),
This month-long workshop, supervised by conservator-restorer Julia Becker, took place at La Petite Escalère between May 26 and June 20, 2014 with eight 2nd and 3rd-year students from ESBA and one student from the INP. The purpose of this restoration was the following :
- introduction to contemporary sculpture conservation-restoration, with an emphasis on issues related to outdoor conservation and to painted resin and composite materials, chemical analysis and fabrication technics and processes;cleaning,
- strengthening, retouching and protection of the work;
- drawing up of a conservation-restoration report;
- proposition of a maintenance strategy for LPE team.
